    Roof Repair vs. Roof Replacement

    Last updated 4 years ago

There are some things in life that one cannot do without. A roof is one such thing. But how can you tell for sure if you really need a new roof, or if you just need a repair?

If you have had your roof installed by a professional (as opposed to some guy just working out of the back of his truck), using quality materials, you should reasonably expect to get somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 years or more of life out of your roof. If your roof is younger than that, then you should carefully consider why you are having issues with leaking.

Fortress Roofing is committed to maximizing the life of your roof. If you have leaking problems but believe that your roof should still have plenty of life left, call us to arrange for a roof inspection. A roof inspection is a careful and thorough examination of every component of your roofing system, which allows us to diagnose the problem so that your issue is completely resolved. Our goal is not to "try" to fix the problem, but to completely resolve it so that you can rest easy, knowing that your home is protected from the elements.

If you have questions about whether you should be repairing or replacing your roof, our website can help get you started, and our roofing professionals are standing at the ready to help, no matter which option you choose. Check out this "Repair vs. Replace" quiz: http://www.fortressroofingutah.com/repair-vs-replace-roof-quiz/

As always, contact us anytime you have any questions about what is best for your roof.

Of course, we can give you an extensive list of our qualifications and skills, but ultimately, you need to decide for yourself what matters most to you when choosing a roofing contractor. Experience has taught us that by far and away, the majority of our new business comes to us from referrals from people we have worked with in the past.

So don't just take our word for it - do your homework and you will find that Fortress is your best choice for the best roof.

In addition to finding our qualifications, licenses and reviews on our website, we encourage you to check out our reviews on Angie's List. We also have a rapidly growing selection of reviews available on Customerlobby.com.

Lastly, our website has an interactive map that puts pin-points on other buildings in your area where we have done work. It's easy to use - just follow the link below to go to the map. You can locate your house on the map, to find other customers that live nearby, and then you can drive by and see first hand how a Fortress roof looks! Spring Home Maintenance Tips

    Last updated 4 years ago

Spring is finally here and things around the office are hoppin'!

Many changes can happen to the structure of your home during the harsh winter weather. We recommend that you are spending a little time with general maintenance of your home twice a year. Many or our customers have a semi-annual "ritual", in which they perform this general maintenance along with other important tasks such as changing batteries in their smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Today's blog offers some suggestions to help you make sure that your home stays in good repair:

    Roof:

Your roof should be thoroughly inspected. You want to look for any damage to your roofing system such as missing or curling shingles, cracks in membrane, or other problem areas. You also want to remove debris such as leaves and pine needles that accumulate over the winter. Getting up on the roof to remove the debris will allow you to closely inspect the roof. Of course, you can also use binoculars to visually inspect the roof from the ground, or better yet, contact Fortress to help with this maintenance and to inspect your roof for a small fee. By making a habit of inspecting your roof, you can greatly increase the life span of your roof as minor problems can be handled proactively.

    Exterior Walls:

The outside of your home should be inspected for damage. Watch for water stains that may indicated problems with your gutters, especially under eaves and near gutter downspouts. Check siding for cracks, splits or loose panels. Check wood for damaged areas, splits or other openings that will allow for unwanted pests such as birds or insects to get into the structure.

    Chimneys:

Check your brick chimney for cracks or splits in the mortar between the bricks. Watch also for any vegetation growing on the chimney as it could be a sign of water infiltration. Another possible indication of a problem is white calcium staining.

    Foundation:

Cracks in the foundation of your home can be a serious problem. Carefully inspect the foundation for any sign or settling or cracking.

Remember - Fortress is your home improvement partner. Don't hesitate to contact for any concern and we will help determine whether or not you need the help of a specialist. Fill out the contact form on our website for a speedy response:

    GAF Wealthbuilder Conference

    Last updated 4 years ago

This year, we are fortunate to have the GAF Wealthbuilder conference taking place here in Salt Lake City! Even more exciting is that Fortress is the ONLY roofing company in the state of Utah that will be a recipient of the Triple Excellence Award! This award is recognition of Fortress's commitment to excellence and we are very proud of this accomplishment, and are excited to be receiving it in our home town.

The conference is taking place at the beautiful Grand America hotel. We thought we would share some photos from the event. Adam, Joan and Cory are representing Fortress Roofing at this conference, where they have the opportunity to learn developments to the industry standards, network with other roofing contractors from all over the country (and even some from Canada!) and hear about the latest and greatest products available from the largest manufacturer of roofing materials in the country!

Fortress is proud to be a GAF Master Elite Contractor, which allows us to offer the best products and warranties on the market to our customers. The Master Elite designation is just one more reason to call Fortress to help with all of your roofing needs!
